However, if you keep larger fish like goldfish or even koi that weigh over 2 pounds each, they would require different filters such as under gravel filters or external filtration systems.

Water conditioners help remove chlorine and other chemicals that can be damaging to your fish's health. 

You'll also want a mechanical filtration system such as a sponge filter or an under-gravel one. These both will help keep the water clean while also providing oxygen for your Betta sorority members by removing solid waste particles from their habitat.
